KNAB independence project
The project “Strengthening prevention of corruption and minimizing corruption costs to society through monitoring and supporting independence of Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB)” aims at setting up methodology for monitoring and assessment of KNAB performance with the ultimate objective to maintain and strengthen its independence and reduce corruption in the country.
The project foresees a range of activities among which is drafting a methodology for monitoring and assessment, round tables to discus methodology with the experts, analysis and monitoring, regular comprehensive reports regarding status of KNAB, activities and recommendations, information events in regions of Latvia to build support of civil society for anti-corruption agenda and specifically work of KNAB. The main outputs of the project are planned to be elaborated
methodology, assessment and monitoring results according to this
methodology and international conference. The methodology and experience will be transferable to other countries where the system and custom to protect independent and unbiased corruption investigation bodies is not in place, or is insufficient or under great pressure.
